Fall Is Around The Corner

Fall is fast approaching and today when I was at the Amish farms and saw the first of this seasons pumpkins coming in and the winter squash. I started thinking about pumpkin breads and pies. I started thinking about Thanksgiving dinner. I know it is early but this is the best time to start my holiday dinner planning though so I will not be so rushed at holiday time. So I decided to start early this year and share the families favorite recipes with you and hopefully ya’ll will find one or two recipes that will become your families favorites also.

Amish Pumpkin Bread 2:

3 cups granulated sugar
1 cups vegetable oil
4 eggs, beaten
1 lb. canned pumpkin
3-1/2 cups flour
2/3 cups water
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. EACH: cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg

Mix sugar, oil and eggs together. Add pumpkin. Then add dry ingredient and finally water, stirring just until mixed. Pour batter into two (2) greased and floured 9×5 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for one (1) hour. Especially good smeared with cream cheese or fresh sweet butter.
