This is the first recipe in the 2009 Thanksgiving dinner menu we have planned for our family here in good Ole Saint Mary’s County.
Green Bean Casserole is a truly southern tradition at our house. I have adapted this recipe to suit my family’s taste. I hope some of you will give it a try. Just maybe it will become a tradition at your house on Thanksgivings in the future.
Patti’s Southern Green Bean Casserole:
2 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
8 cups cooked green beans
1 teaspoon pepper
1 cup milk
2 cups French fried onions
6 slices bacon fried crisp and crumbled
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix soup, milk and pepper in a 2-quart casserole dish. Stir in beans, bacon and 1 cup of the fried onions. Bake for about 30 minutes. Top with the remaining 1 cup fried onions and bake about 5 more minutes, until onions are lightly browned.
I hope ya’ll give this a try and let me hear from you.
