Perfect Side Dishes For Your BBQ Parties

These are some of the side dishes that I serve at my BBQ’s. From BBQ Beans to the old stand by of Potato Salad I hope ya’ll enjoy these recipes and give them a try.  Some are a bit unusual Like my BBQ Coleslaw but they are simply delish. Let me know what you think of them.

Barbequed Beans:

1 pound dried Navy Beans, washed and picked over

2 large Vidalia Onion chopped

3 tablespoons of bacon or ham drippings

3/4 cup of ketchup

1/2 cup cider vinegar

1/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

3 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

4 1/2 to 5 cups boiling water

Place the beans in a large heavy pan add just enough cold water to cover them by at least an inch and soak over night.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Drain and rinse the beans, place them in an ungreased 3 quart casserole. Mix in all the other ingredients. Cover the casserole with a sheet of foil. Seal well. Bake the beans on the lower rack of your oven for about 4 to 4 1/2 hours or until the beans are tender. (Check the beans after about 3 hours though to make sure they are not baking dry. If they seem alittle dry add alittle more boiling water just to keep them moist. reseal and continue baking.) Remove from oven let sit for 30 minutes covered, then serve with your favorite BBQ meal.
