This is a good smoothie recipe for the hot days of summer.   It is also a great source of potassium.

Watermelon Wave Smoothie

2 cups of cubed watermelon pieces (fresh or frozen)
1 cup of raspberries
2 scoops of reduced sugar,  low – fat vanilla ice-cream

To make this summer smoothie add fruit to the blender first, blend for about 20 seconds or until your preferred thickness. Next, add the ice-cream, blend again for about 20 seconds. Enjoy

Tim’s diet is being changed yet again. His having high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol it makes meal planning a real challenge here lately. Tim has a sweet tooth that is hard to tame but this is one recipe that I came up with that is healthy and sweet but doesn’t effect his diet to much as I can do exchanges in other areas of his diet.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie:

8 large strawberries
1 large banana
8 ounces low fat vanilla yogurt
1 cup milk
4  crushed ice cubes

Slice strawberries and banana in half and place in blender.

Add vanilla yogurt and milk.

Add ice cubes.

Process in blender until smooth.

Garnish with a strawberry and sprig of mint leaf if desired.
